LOS ANGELES. — Floyd Mayweather has hinted he may have whittled the list of potential opponents for his so-called final fight this September to the names of Oscar De La Hoya and Gennady Golovkin.
The undefeated champion announced following his win over Manny Pacquiao in May that he would be putting on his gloves once more later this year, with Amir Khan immediately touted as a possible challenger.
But a rematch with De La Hoya moved a stepped closer, after Mayweather responded to the veteran American’s suggestion of a comeback to the ring at the age of 42.
Mayweather, who is unbeaten in 48 fights, would appear to be drawn to the idea of facing De La Hoya again, after scoring a points victory over him in May 2007.
Eight years ago, Golden Boy De La Hoya, who won a gold medal at the Olympic Games in 1992, enjoyed success in the opening rounds before the five division world champion wore away at his opponent through his now inimitable and unconquerable speed and strength. — Mailonline.
