LOCAL judokas made their presence felt at the Japanese Ambassador’s Cup – Zambia when scooping nine medals over the weekend in Lusaka.
Fourteen participants from Zimbabwe including some from Tongogara Refugee Camp graced this year’s edition in Zambia and they proved they were not there to make the numbers, picking one gold, four silver and four bronze medals.
Sandile Ndlovu, competing in the cadets male -66kg had an outstanding performance picking gold in his category.
The quartet of Makanaka Nherera, Sasha Chamhuma, Pascal Rehema and Kabanga Kabongo also weighed in with a silver medals each.
Nherera got a silver medal in the cadets female +70kg while Chamhuma was up for the cadets female -44kg.
Rehema battled it out in the pre-cadets female -57kg and Kabongo competed for honours in the cadets male -66kg.
The bronze medals came from Matipaishe Dambo in the pre-cadets male -38kg, Prince Le Fila Batomene in the cadets male -42kg and Precious Tapomwa in the cadets female -70kg.
Brian Chiminya also walked away with a bronze in the senior male -73kg.
