A FEW years ago, Ngonidzashe Fusire, who recently moved to work in Argentina, was washing cars at the Seke Road flyover, but today he is living his dream of flying planes.
It’s a different world, complete with holidays on some of the world’s best beaches, from what used to be his daily grind at a car sale in Harare.
The 36-year-old, who left Waterfloo Farm in Macheke in search of greener pastures in Harare, has scripted a beautiful story which shows that determination can beat even the toughest of odds.
His dream was to make it in Harare, when he arrived in 2012, but he soon learnt that the Sunshine City was not an easy beast to tame.
Finding himself in a very tough and strange environment, he took up a part-time job washing cars at a car sale at the Seke Road flyover.
He saved the bulk of the money he was making and, after two years, he bought his first car.
Given he was now knowledgeable in the trade of car sales, he ventured into the same business.
Given all contacts he had made, over the last two years, Ngoni started buying and selling cars.
He used the majority of his earnings to fund his education as he pursued his dream of being a pilot.
There were many who doubted the path he had chosen, but this did not deter Ngoni from battling on to try and get his pilot licence.
He concedes that it was not easy to balance his studies and keep working to get the money that was needed to fund the courses he was undertaking.
Today, Ngoni stands tall as a living testament to the power of perseverance.
His journey from a street car washer to a qualified pilot serves as an inspiration to all who dare to dream.
“Growing up, I would look up the sky and every time I saw planes, it made me wonder how does it feel to be there.
“I kept thinking and dreaming about it not only about boarding a plane but wanting to fly it one day.
“Never stop believing in yourself.
‘Surround yourself with people who believe in you, stay positive and never lose sight of your dreams,” said Ngoni.
He has also turned his social media platforms into pages where his followers can read some inspirational messages.
“Maturity is learning to walk away from people and situations that threaten your peace of mind, self-respect, values, morals and self-worth,” he posted yesterday.
He added:
“For what it’s worth, it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of and if you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”
