FM Tongogara goes on air

RESIDENTS of Tongogara Refugee Settlement in Chipinge District today celebrated a milestone with the official handover of broadcasting equipment, marking the launch of community radio station FM Tongogara.
The ceremony was graced by the Guest of Honour, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere, represented by his deputy, Honourable Omupilo Marupi, alongside UNESCO Assistant Director-General Dr Tawfik Jelassi, who presided over the handover.

FM Tongogara is expected to serve as a vital platform for fostering social cohesion, amplifying diverse voices, and promoting multilingual communication within the refugee community.
The station’s establishment signals a new chapter in empowering residents through access to information, dialogue, and cultural exchange.
