A MAN who robbed a bus crew of US$440 and a cellphone was last week nabbed by law enforcement agents in Chipinge.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the arrest of Romeo Manyondo (30), in connection with the robbery that occurred at Southdowns Bus Stop last Friday.
“The US$440 and a cellphone were stolen from a bus conductor and a loader. The suspect did not get far as he was apprehended by members of the public while attempting to flee the scene. Upon arrest, police recovered the stolen cash and cellphone. Officers also recovered several items suspected to have been used in the commission of the offence, which included an air gun, catapult, axe, pliers, three spanners and a screwdriver,” he said.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to police immediately, saying such cooperation helps to reduce crime in the province. He said investigations are ongoing.
