Zanu-PF youths should focus on helping rebrand the party through coordinating various developmental issues the revolutionary party is spearheading, Harare South legislator Cde Tongai Mnangagwa has said.
He said the youths should shun political violence and help the development agenda as envisaged by the Second Republic led by President Mnangagwa.
Cde Mnangagwa was addressing a capacity crowd in Ushewokunze suburb on Monday.
He said the Second Republic’s preoccupation was on re-engaging different stakeholders including those that used to demonise the country.
“Politics in Zimbabwe used to be about fighting, that was not attractive to development, and we want to rebrand the party by shunning violence and speaking development and empowerment to the people, especially the youth,” he said.
“Let’s open our arms and embrace even the opposition so that we put our minds together to develop our country.”
Cde Mnangagwa called on the people to reject corruption, which was impacting negatively on development.
“Anyone caught on corruption, whether from Zanu-PF or whichever party, should face the wrath of the law,” he said. “Our police officers should be non-partisan, they should deal with issues of violence in an impartial manner.”
Cde Mnangagwa said as the legislator for Harare South constituency, he had already started working on programmes to regularise settlements in the constituency. He said those in areas planned for other amenities will be relocated, especially those occupying land reserved for schools and hospitals.
