A FOETUS was on Saturday found floating in a well at a church in Southley Park.

A women’s fellowship group, which was cleaning at the Methodist in Zimbabwe Church, found the foetus, which they believe was dumped on Friday.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating an infanticide case in Southley Park,” said Insp Chakanza.

“Circumstances are that on May 24, 2025, at about 3pm and at Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, Southlea Park branch, Harare, some women went to church for a clean-up exercise in preparation for Sunday service.

“As one of them was about to fetch water from the church well at the church premises, she observed a sack floating on water in the well.

“She teamed up with other church members and fished out the sack using a wire attached to a rope.

“When the sack was out of the well, they then unwrapped the sack and saw a foetus,” said Insp Chakanza.
