BEN Follet-Smith won this year’s National Aids Council Pro-Am golf Day after an impressive 14-under at Royal Harare yesterday. The former United States-based student has become an instant hit after he turned professional some two weeks ago. He pocketed $6 000. After carding an eight-under 64 on Wednesday, the former Wingate based player followed it with a five-under 67 before closing with a one-under 71.
“I think the win is good and, I will not look back from now onwards as I have set my eyes on the Côte d’Ivoire Open, which begins next Thursday. I managed to remain focused and Royal, as my home course, made me feel at home. I just could not relax as the competition was intense,” he said.
Steven Ferreira, fresh from winning the Uganda Open, was the runner-up on five-under.
