Vungu legislator Cde Josephat Madubeko last week handed over three tonnes of rice to villagers under Government’s feeding programme. The donation came as a relief to villagers who were grappling with hunger following poor rains in the area.

Each household got at least 10kg of rice and the legislator also donated seeds for market gardening.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Cde Madubeko said he was going to embark on various development programmes in the constituency soon, after he received $50 000 under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) recently.

He urged villagers to work closely with councillors so that they can come up with a list of projects that needed urgent attention in the constituency.

“Recently, the President pushed that we get Constituency Development Fund,” he said.
“I have since received the money, so what is left is for us to organise ourselves and identify projects, which we feel need urgent attention in our constituency.”

Cde Madubeko said most of the money would be channelled towards self-help projects to cushion villagers in the constituency against hunger.

He said he had since appealed to Government over the food situation in the constituency and it would soon roll out a food aid programme.
“We did not do well in Vungu in terms of agriculture this year and Government is aware of the situation here and it will soon roll out food aid programme in affected areas,” he said.

Cde Madubeko urged people in Vungu to vote resoundingly for the revolutionary Zanu-PF party in the coming harmonised elections.
He said Zanu-PF was a tried and tested party with people at heart.
