FOOD processing company, Zoro Nemugoti, has ventured into the preservation of indigenous foods to conserve nutritional value.
Speaking to H-Metro at its stand at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, Zoro Nemugoti spokesperson, Takudzwa Tanevinga, said they want to create meals that are authentically Zimbabwean.
“This gives us an opportunity to be happy and proud of what we have and enjoy the nutrients found in our products.
“The products we have are things that we get post-harvest,” said Tanevingwa.
Zoro Nemugoti manufactures crisps from sweet potatoes, carrots, pepper, tomatoes and magogoya.
“As a nation, it is best that we embrace our own and develop them into different products.
“This offers healthy, nutritious, indigenous, tasty and wholesome snacks.
“We target people who suffer from diabetes and hypertension to curb hunger, manage body weight, sustain energy, boost metabolism and supplement diet.
“We turn ordinary things into extraordinary foods which give a different experience.
“Anything that grows, grows for a reason, so we want to merge with nature because that is where we discover nutritious meals.”
Tanevinga said they owe their success to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises, which enabled them to attend this year’s Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.
