Food row ‘ignites’ fire

In a case of domestic violence, a Harare man reportedly doused his wife with paraffin before lighting a match intending to set her ablaze for not preparing breakfast for him.

Tendai Mupeteri (34) of Overspill, Epworth, is said to have awoken his wife, Siphelani Mutsuta early in the morning demanding breakfast.

The couple, who are both unemployed, exchanged harsh words after the wife told him that there was no food in the house.

Mupeteri appeared before magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe charged with contravening the Domestic Violence Act.

He was remanded in custody to today for plea recording.
