ZIMBABWE is set for a rare spotlight moment in the fast-rising sport of footgolf as International Footgolf Federation president Alex Kravanja arrives from Slovenia this weekend for the African Footgolf Championships in Victoria Falls.
The tournament runs from November 23 to 25 at Elephant Hills Golf Course, a venue secured after weeks of preparation by the Zimbabwe Footgolf Association. Its president, Daniel Kuwengwa, said the visit by the global boss signals how far the local game has come since its introduction.
Kuwengwa described Kravanja’s trip as a major boost for the country’s efforts to grow the sport. He said footgolf is still new in Zimbabwe but has picked up surprising momentum across provinces after a successful national tournament earlier this year.
“This is an endorsement of our development initiatives and we hope to grow further after this tournament. We had a successful national tournament and more provinces have come on board,” he said.
He added that the African Footgolf Open Championship, set for the stunning Elephant Hills layout, marks a milestone for the country. “We are proud to announce the upcoming Africa Footgolf Open Championship, scheduled to take place from 23 to 25 November 2025 at picturesque Elephant Hills Golf Course in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe,” said Kuwengwa.
Six nations will take part, among them Germany, Slovenia, Morocco, South Africa, Zambia and hosts Zimbabwe.
“It is a 500-point event and a qualifier for the prestigious Mexico 2026 World Cup,” Kuwengwa said.
He also named the Zimbabwe squad for the championship and thanked sponsors for backing the Victoria Falls showpiece.
