CONGRATULATIONS to all Grade 7 learners for completing your national exams! This is a huge achievement and a proud moment for you, your parents and your teachers. But now that the exams are over, what’s next?
This is not the time to sit back and waste your days doing nothing. It’s the perfect time to prepare for your next big journey — high school. And one of the best ways to do that is by learning goal setting and time management.
What is goal setting?
Goal setting means deciding what you want to achieve — both now and in the future — and making a clear plan to get there. Ask yourself:
– What kind of student do I want to be in Form 1?
– What subjects do I want to do well in?
– What kind of person do I want to grow into?
Write your goals down. Start small — maybe you want to read one book this holiday, improve your English or help your parents more at home. These small goals prepare you for bigger ones.
Why time management matters
Now that you have more free time, it’s easy to waste it. But time is like money — once it’s gone, it’s gone. Use this holiday to practise good habits. Create a daily routine:
– Set time for reading.
– Do something productive.
– Rest, play and help at home.
When you learn to manage your time well now, you’ll be more ready to handle high school assignments, sports and other responsibilities.
Final advice
Don’t wait until next year to start growing. Begin now. The best students don’t just work hard — they plan ahead, use their time wisely and set goals. You have a bright future — make every day count.
