For how long?

Leoper Nyatando

For how long shall dogs watch as juicy bones are snatched from their jaws by hyenas while they salivate hungrily?

Time has become impatient, too.

The cats are also tired of anxiety.

For how long shall we keep going in circles?

The earth has failed to provide enough peace and stability to its children.

Mother Earth, please, feed us now for tomorrow will be too late.

In your belly, Mother Earth, are many of our ancestors, friends and relatives.

Land of my birth, for how long shall the wait be?

Mother Earth, set me free from all the ills of life.

Kicks, lies, robberies, cheating and marginalisation all surround me.

The voice of a yearning soul calls from yonder, in the pit of frustration.

The voice cries out in dark alleys of frustration.

For how long shall I have to wait?

Is happiness beckoning any time soon?

Patience pays, and wait I shall.

The dusk of misery shall give birth to a new dawn of joy, peace and hilarity.

My hopes, dreams and aspirations shall one day come true.

May the Almighty deliver peace to all people in need.
