At 5 274mm long and 2 163mm wide, the Ford Ranger Single Cab is significantly bigger than its previous-generation model.

The windscreen has been raked back and the front corners sculpted around bigger headlight clusters with bigger mirrors and flared wheel arches.

The heart of Ford Ranger’s capability is its extra-deep-sidewall pickup box – 1.82 cubic metres in Single Cab guise. Rear-wheel drive Single Cab models are rated to carry 1 200kg, the big diesels can tow 3 350kg and Hi-Rider models can wade through 800mm of water.
The Single Cab is available in three different trim levels: Base, XL and XLS.
The entry-level Base model serves its purpose as a no-nonsense workhorse minus many interior “frills”.

Standard specifications improve progressively in the Ford Ranger Single Cab XL trim and XLS trim respectively.
With the top of the range featuring: Power adjustable exterior mirrors, power windows, a 10.5cm Display Radio/CD plus mp3 plus Aux, 2 extra speakers, bucket seats, remote central locking, leather steering wheel, alarm, 16-inch alloy wheels with 255/70 R16 tyres and an on-board computer.
The Ford Ranger Single Cab is available with either manual or automatic transmissions as well as in a 4×2 Hi-Rider or 4×4 derivative depending on engine choice.
Engine options include either a 2.5i petrol engine (122kW/226Nm) or 2.2 TDCi mid-power (88kW/285Nm) or 2.2 Duratorq TDCi four-cylinder hi power (110kW/375Nm) diesel engine.
The latter being the economy champion at only 7,6 litres per 100km in a rear-wheel drive set-up.
Safety features in the entry-level Single Cab Base model are adequate; however, the higher Spec’d XL and XLS Single Cab models enjoy a more comprehensive list including ABS with EBD, two airbags, remote keyless entry, alarm and immobiliser.
All Rangers have DIN compliant load boxes, making cargo at the back safe. Even the non-reflective material Ford selected for the interior was considered to ensure it reduced driver’s glare.
