THE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, on Monday visited the residence of the late Ambassador Victor Matemadanda to convey his condolences to the bereaved family following the former diplomat’s death.
Ambassador Matemadanda died in the early hours of Sunday, June 21, at the age of 66. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade announced his passing, describing it as a significant loss to Zimbabwe’s diplomatic service and the nation at large.
At the time of his death, he was serving as Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Mozambique and Eswatini, where he had been spearheading efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen cooperation between the countries.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said it joined the nation in mourning the loss of a devoted public servant.
“The Ministry joins the nation in mourning the loss of a devoted public servant and extends its deepest sympathies to the Matemadanda family during this difficult time,” said the ministry.
Ambassador Matemadanda’s passing has been met with widespread condolences from Government officials, colleagues and members of the public, who have hailed his contribution to national development and service to the country.
Funeral and burial arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
