THE Forestry Commission of Zimbabwe is inviting local and international investors to apply for commercial leases on six prime forest and property sites across the country.
The available sites include the 25 000-hectare Sijarira Forest in Binga for safari hunting and eco-tourism, which includes a trophy-hunting quota for large wildlife such as elephants and leopards.
The 100 000-hectare Gwaai Forest Block in Lupane is available for conservation and safari activities, the company said in a statement.
The commission is also offering non-consumptive tourism leases for the 950-hectare Chirinda Rain Forest in Chipinge, home to the famous Big Tree and the 2 200-hectare Ubuso Block B in Hwange District.
In Victoria Falls, a 300-hectare site in Fuller Forest near the international airport is open for the development of eco-lodges and luxury accommodation.
Additionally, a six-hectare property at the Zimbabwe College of Forestry in Christmas Pass is available to build a 5MW solar plant or convert into factory and warehousing space.
Applicants must submit three hard copies of their detailed proposals and the deadline for all tender submissions is October 8, 2026.
The Forestry Commission of Zimbabwe is a State parastatal responsible for managing, conserving, and regulating the country’s indigenous state forest reserves and forest resources.
It derives its legal authority from the Forest Act and the Communal Land Forest Produce Act.
The commission manages hundreds of thousands of hectares of gazetted natural State forests across Zimbabwe.
Its primary duties include protecting forest biodiversity, issuing timber and land development permits, and enforcing national forestry laws.
The commission conducts forest research and provides tertiary education through specialised institutions like the Zimbabwe College of Forestry and the Forest Industries Training Centre.
It also oversees commercial partnerships, including trophy-hunting quotas, eco-tourism development, and infrastructure leases on state forest land.
