Former Nkayi District Administrator dies

FOMER Nkayi District Administrator, who was recently promoted to deputy director in the Ministry of Rural Development, Promotion and Preservation of National Culture and Heritage Mr Mandlamakhulu Moyo, has died.

Mr Moyo died in a suspected hit-and- run incident on Tuesday in Harare while he was on his way to Kuwadzana suburb, where he was staying.

He was coming from his home area in Matabeleland South where he had attended a funeral.

The ministry’s human resources manager, only identified as Mr Dube confirmed Mr Moyo’s death yesterday but declined to give details, saying the ministry would release a statement after meeting Mr Moyo’s family.

Sources in the ministry said Moyo’s body was discovered yesterday.

“It’s suspected that he died after a hit-and -run accident on his way home. His body was discovered this morning and a report was made to the police,” said an official from the ministry.

Mr Moyo worked in Nkayi for several years before he was moved to Harare about six months ago.

Early this year Nkayi North legislator Cde Sithembiso Nyoni hailed Mr Moyo for bringing development to Nkayi District through his hard work.
