A FORMER procurement manager for a Harare company appeared in court yesterday facing allegations of defrauding his employer of over US$30 000 through fictitious requisitions and misappropriation of funds.

Charles Tigere Nyatsapfu, a former employee of Ompbinant, was granted bail when he appeared before Harare Magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo.

He is scheduled to return to court on December 3, 2025. The charges stem from complaints lodged by Loveyourfood (Private) Limited represented in court by its general manager Ms Judith Chido Kucherera.

Prosecutor Mr Lawrence Gangarahwe outlined a series of fraudulent transactions allegedly orchestrated by Nyatsapfu between June and September 2025. According to the prosecution, Nyatsapfu made several requisitions for various products and services inflating amounts or failing to deliver as promised. For instance, on June 4, 2025, Nyatsapfu submitted a requisition for products valued at US$7 144,35 from Cansmart Company but delivered goods worth only US$1 384,09. On June 10, he requested US$2 652,78 for transportation fees to Onyx Distributors yet only US$812,78 was paid.

Additionally, on June 24, two requisitions totalling US$2 217,51 for Roastech and Precision Packing resulted in goods worth just US$1 073,87 being supplied. On August 5, a requisition for US$1 710 intended for Marcom Plastics to purchase plastic tubs was paid but not fulfilled among other requisitions. The total financial loss to the company amounts to US$30 046,46 with only US$7 595,58 recovered so far.
