A MAN who accused a villager of being a bully and allegedly stabbed him to death with a spear has appeared in court.

Mkhululi Ncube of Esango Village in Fort Rixon, Matabeleland South Province, appeared on Monday for routine remand before Bulawayo Provincial Magistrate Mr Esheunesu Mathoba facing murder charges.
He was remanded in custody until 16 July.

The magistrate advised Ncube that it is his legal right to apply for bail at the Bulawayo High Court and to enlist the services of a lawyer.

Prosecutor, Ms Josephine Gurazhira told the court that last month, on 2 May, the accused, who was in the company of his accomplice, met Sylvester Mpofu (23) at Esango village.

“They accused him of being a bully and an argument ensued. They exchanged harsh words and, at the height of the argument, Ncube, who was armed with a spear, stabbed Mpofu twice.

“He stumbled to the ground and bled profusely. Mpofu died while he was being ferried to hospital,” said Ms Gurazhira.
