TWO drivers died in a head-on collision involving a private vehicle and a Toyota Hiace kombi at the 63-kilometre peg along the Bulawayo-Gwanda Road on Friday afternoon.
The kombi, which was carrying mining equipment and grocery items, was travelling towards Gwanda, while the private vehicle, carrying one occupant, was heading towards Bulawayo.
When the news crew arrived at the scene, police officers and members of the Esigodini Fire Brigade were still working to access the wreckage.
The Toyota Hiace kombi was extensively damaged, while the private vehicle was reduced to a shell.
Officials at the scene said the kombi was carrying two passengers, a mother and her daughter, who survived the accident and were taken to Esigodini Hospital for treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the accident were not immediately clear.
