“MY brother killed my son and is behind my failed marriages.”

So bitter is a Mutare man who accuses his elder brother of killing his child as well as casting a spell on him through sorcery.

Caleb Ngazviitwe Mukuti (36) who has been married and divorced three times, said his brother, Taurai Mukuti is using him as a husband to his goblin, thereby rendering his manhood useless.

He claimed that he is always having nightmares where different reptiles like snakes and crocodiles would be chasing him every night.

He said the snakes present with his brother’s face.

Currently Caleb is not married.

He said each time he visits prophets and spiritual healers, his brother is implicated as the person behind his suffering through acts of wizardry.

In an unsolicited interview with The Weekender recently, the 36-year-old single man alleged that the misfortunes in his life began when he refused to accompany his brother to Mozambique to acquire wealth enhancing charms in 2015.

“Taurai asked me to accompany him to traditional healers in Mozambique to acquire wealth enhancing charms and I refused.

“He claimed that we were living in abject poverty, yet our late fathers had also acquired the same charms during their time. I refused because I knew that this would have a boomerang effect on my children in future. Taurai went behind my back to acquire the charms and that is when all hell broke loose,” said Caleb.

He said his minor child died shortly after Taurai’s return from his Mozambican mission.

Caleb also claimed that they found Taurai sitting on his late son’s grave the morning after his burial.

“When we found him seated on top of the grave, Taurai did not give a satisfactory answer on what he was doing there. He was seated on my child’s grave in the wee hours of the morning, the day after we buried him. Instead, he charged at us, threatening us with unknown consequences. I was fired from my job and I am still unemployed up to this day.

“My wife left me afterwards. I have married three women and they all left because of my brother’s charms. During the course of my marriages, I would dream of dead people riding on my back, telling me that my marriages will not last. They said I will die wallowing in abject poverty and that my manhood will not work,” he said.

Caleb claims that Taurai always tell him to his face that he will die a pauper.

“When I confront him, he threatens to kill me. I am afraid that his threats will come to pass anytime,” said the distraught Caleb.

Despite possessing a Class Two driver’s licence, Caleb is failing to secure a job. He has seven children and all of them are staying with their mothers.

Called for comment, Taurai disputed all the allegations, saying he is also a victim of the evil spirits. He said he is also single at 40 years and believes someone is behind this.

“I am also being tormented by the evil spirits haunting Caleb, yet he continues pointing an accusing finger on me. I have tried to engage him, but he refuses to come to the rural areas so that we can meet and chart the way forward. I can give you our uncles’ contact details so that you can confirm with them my side of the story.

“Ndingaromba, ndinei chandinacho ini? Mukafonera vanababa vanokuudzai kuti mwana iyeye anenge anekasoro nekuti haachadi kuuya kubatana nevamwe kumusha. (I have nothing that confirms that I acquired wealth enhancing charms. Why would I acquire charms? My uncles can confirm that Caleb is becoming thick-headed and self-centred),” said Taurai.

However, the brothers’ maternal uncle, Zviitwe Mautsva confirmed Caleb’s misfortunes and said the family is disturbed by the sad turn of events in his (Caleb)’s life.

“He has the weirdest of dreams. Just last week, he was saying he dreamt of a grown up man riding on his back asking him why he had not fed his snakes. It means that someone is using black magic on him. I believe one day the truth will be known.

“It is bizarre for a man to have three failed marriages. The three women left him complaining of his erectile dysfunction. All the prophets and spiritual healers we have consulted implicate Taurai,” said Mautsva.

Caleb is also appealing to anyone who might help him to have the curse on him reversed to assist.

“I am appealing for assistance from well-wishers. I do not care whether they are prophets or traditional healers, what I want is someone to assist me in reversing this curse. I am now afraid to approach my brother because of his endless threats,” he said.

The brothers’ aunt whom Taurai referred the reporter to, Tsitsi Mukuti, said Caleb needs urgent help as he is a “spiritual prisoner”.

“My husband and I looked after these kids after their parents’ death. We do not know whether it is Taurai behind Caleb’s misfortunes or not, but Caleb needs urgent spiritual help. We are struggling as a family to help him.

“If you talk to Taurai, please ask him on what he is doing to ensure that Caleb is delivered from the curse. If he has anything to do with his brother’s spiritual attacks, he should confess and help him,” she said.

Their uncle, Thomas Mukuti said he had dismally failed to reconcile the brothers.

“I have tried everything possible to facilitate the two’s meeting so that we deal with the elephant in the room, but my efforts have been in vain. I am losing hope, but I will continue pushing for a permanent solution. I love them so much, but the enmity between them is out of this world,” he said.

ZINATHA president, Mr George Kandiero said it is possible for someone to acquire wealth enhancing charms, but fail to get rich.

He also said cases of men being used as goblins’ husbands are common.

“Goblins are real and people need to know that it all depends with the nature of the goblin, some require wives, while others require husbands. In this case, an exorcist is required, a strong one at that, and I advise this man to visit one of our traditional healers.

“What really happens when someone acquires wealth enhancing charms is that they are not told that what they will be getting is a goblin that will terrorise them or their family. There is no guarantee that one will become rich after acquiring the charms. Some will become poorer after that,” he said.
