Four CCC activists yesterday appeared at the Harare magistrates court on allegations of causing chaos within the court’s vicinity.

Namatai Kwekweza (25), Samuel Gwenzi (39), Vusimuzi Moyo (40) and Robson Chete (40) were facing disorderly conduct charges when they appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Apollonia Marutya.

The matter was deferred to Monday for bail application.

It is the State’s case that on June 27 2024 and at Harare Magistrate Court the accused persons in the company Philies Pikitayi, Dephine Gutsa, Simbarashe Blackson and Emmanuel Sitima already arrested under Harare Magistrate Court CRBS HREP 5921-3/24 and 6756/24 and others still at large grouped at the entrance of Harare Magistrates’ Court after Jameson Timba and 78 other members of the Citizens Coalition for Change [CCC] were denied bail.

The court heard that the four and their accomplices started chanting CCC Party slogan, raising placards while using abusive language and when they were ordered by the police reaction group to disperse, they resisted which led to some being arrested while the accused and others fled from the scene.
