In Dzivaresekwa, the housebreakers gained entry through the roof.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tadius Chibanda confirmed house breaking cases. He said in the Avenues area, the criminals got away with a radio and US$300 cash.
In Mabelreign, Insp Chibanda said, the housebreakers stole three cellphones and US$136 cash.
“In Dzivaresekwa, the housebreakers got entry into the house through the roof and stole a Nokia cellphone and US$107 cash while in Chitungwiza they got away with a DSTV decoder only,” he said.
Insp Chibanda urged the public to put adequate security measures to avoid such cases. “We are concerned about all these cases and we would like to continue urging the public to ensure that they put adequate security measures to secure their homes and properties,” he said.
Insp Chibanda said police would continue to patrol in all the suburbs and industrial areas in and around the city.
Police said they had received more than 10 cases of housebreaking a day since December last year.
The criminals target cash, LCD television sets, laptops, video cameras and cellphones among others.
