Four killed in accident near Mutimurefu Prison

Four people died on the spot while seven others sustained serious injuries after a Toyota Wish they were travelling in was involved in an accident near Mutimurefu Prison along the Masvingo-Mutare Road on Monday morning.

The accident occurred at the 293km peg when the vehicle, carrying 11 passengers, veered off the road and overturned before landing on its wheels.

Masvingo police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said the bodies of the deceased were taken to Masvingo General Hospital mortuary.

The injured are in a stable condition and are recuperating at the same hospital.

Police are still investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
