Dynamos………………..(3) 4
Sheasham…………………..0
IT MIGHT be too early to conclude that the Glamour is back at Dynamos but the fans who were in attendance at the National Sports Stadium yesterday certainly feel that way.
Sheasham were given a tough lesson in their first trip to the capital in the Castle lager Premiership as their coach, John Nyikadzino, watched helplessly.
DeMbare got their opening goal just after two minutes with the visitors failing to deal with Tanaka “Kante” Shandirwa’s delivery and conceding an own goal in the process.
Sheasham tried to get themselves back in the game but the Dynamos defence was just impenetrable.
Defender Zivanai Chikwenhere doubled Dynamos’ lead with a dreadful own goal in the 32 minute, in an attempt to restart the play from the back.
Goalkeeper Liberty Chirava was caught off guard, and way off his line, by the long pass.
The enterprising Tendai Matindife, who was a menace to the visitors wingbacks, was pulled down inside the 18 area leaving the referee with no option but to point to the spot in the 34th minute.
Like a real captain, Frank Makatati, took the responsibility and made no mistake from the spot. Emmanuel Paga rounded off the scoring in the 82th minute from close range from Elie Ilunga’s perfect cross.
Makarati insisted that he was not pleased with their performance despite the emphatic thumping of the visitors.
“It feels good to be on the scoresheet and I hope this is the beginning of more goals to come.
“It was a good win for us but deep within us, as players, we know that our performance was nowhere near the coaches’ expectations.
“But, when it’s your day things just happen and we did make an effort to get this win but, in all honesty, we could have done better,” said Makatati.
Dynamos reject, Tanaka Chidhobha, was well-handled by Emmanuel Jalai for the better part of this battle.
It was prodigal son, Denver Mukamba, who proved to be the darling of the fans when he was introduced just after the restart. The fans had chanted, demanding the technical team to bring him on.
He was showered with money after the game together with midfielder Donald Mudadi who made things seem easy in the centre of the park.
Dynamos coach, Herbert Maruwa, said he is hoping that his charges will put up a similar show when they face off Simba Bhora this weekend.
Meanwhile, Hwange edged Yadah Stars 2-1 at Baobab while Manica and Triangle United drew 0-0 in other matches.
