Foxes hunt the Ox

LONDON. — English Premier League soccer champions Leicester are planning a raid for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain .

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri wants stars with proven experience at the highest level – and the Arsenal star fits the bill.

The 22-year-old Ox suffered a knee in February and is out of the European Championship finals, but should be fit for pre-season. The return from injury of Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla, added to the insistence by manager Arsene Wenger that Theo Walcott will not be allowed to leave the Emirates, will limit Oxlade-Chamberlain’s chances.

Wenger is preparing a double swoop to reinforce his squad. He will be without Danny Welbeck for nine months because of a serious knee injury. The front man that has impressed him is Southampton’s Sadio Mane.

The 24-year-old – signed from Salzburg for £11.25million – was a target for Manchester United last summer. Saints have rejected any prospect of a move, but a bid around £17m could secure him.

In the midfield area, Wenger has joined the list of managers keen on Leicester’s France international N’Golo Kante. — The Mirror.
