Foxes seize control in HBA League

FOXES coach Kelvin Ben is confident his table-topping team will beat Harare City Hornets to the Harare Basketball League title after posting a string of impressive results.

Foxes dismantled JBC 72-54 in a match the latter failed to match the former despite huge expectations that they could stand toe to toe with them.

It is against this morale- boosting result that Ben, whose team recently won the Lesotho Invitational tournament, has expressed optimism that his charges will have a say in the destiny of the HBA crown.

Hornets, who have played a game less than Foxes crashed Cameo 54-26 and made sure they keep the heat on their rivals. The two teams are separated by a single point.

“We are working hard to ensure that we maintain pole position. It’s no secret that we want to win the title. We are just hoping that we stretch our lead at the the top. We lost much ground when we lost two consecutive matches just after we returned from our successful adventure in Lesotho.

“But, I am happy that we were able to lift ourselves up and we are now at the apex. We hope to keep the momentum,” said Ben.

JBC are still in the equation, so are Cheetahs and Raiders.

On the Women’s front, Hornets consolidated their lead at the top after hammering Mabvuku 88-24 in a one-sided affair. JBC and Greenstars are still in the running for the title with the latter currently enjoying an incredible 91 per cent winning rate.
