FRANK WARREN wants to bring boxing to his beloved Emirates Stadium — in the hopes of celebrating an ambitious QUADRUPLE.
The Hall of Fame promoter has held events at Tottenham’s £1BILLION ground and had Ipswich fan Fabio Wardley fight at Portman Road last year.
But he is yet to combine his two passions by staging boxing at the Emirates – where he has a box to cheer on his beloved Gunners.
Mikel Arteta‘s side top the Prem table, play Manchester City in the League Cup final while also contesting for the FA Cup and Champions League.
So Warren is dreaming of an unprecedented quadruple by the time he brings boxing to the Emirates following talks with Arsenal chiefs.
And he also hit back with a counter of his own amid criticism over Arteta’s tactics and a run of goals from set-pieces.
Warren, 74, said: “I’ve spoken with them. We’ve had lots of talks with them about doing it but the big problem has been the cost of doing it there.
“Spurs is cheaper, as you’d expect! But Spurs, we’ve done shows there, Wembley, but of course I want to do one there. We want to do it.
“And our team, they keep talking about these dead ball teams and boring football. How do you get corners? You get corners from attacking football.
“That’s taking the ball down to the other guy’s half and getting the ball. Anyway, yeah, of course I do. “I’d like to do a show there to celebrate us winning those four trophies this season.”
Warren’s Queensberry Promotions stable is full of Arsenal supporters, from Daniel Dubois, Moses Itauma and Hamzah Sheeraz.
And the iconic matchmaker joked pledging allegiance to the Gunners is just part of the deal when he snaps them up.
Warren said: “Moses is an Arsenal fan. Daniel’s an Arsenal fan, Hamzah Sheeraz is an Arsenal fan. That’s part of the deal when they sign up.”
Dubois returns in a WBO world title fight against British rival Wardley on May 9 in Manchester.
And 21-year-old prodigy Itauma returns next Saturday against Jermaine Franklin in his bid to gain much-needed rounds in the ring.
Sheeraz is in line for a shot at super-middleweight gold after beating American Edgar Berlanga last July. — The Sun
