The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) has issued a public notice about fraudulent individuals visiting private houses while posing as the Agency’s officials.

The fraudsters are reportedly requesting personal information under the guise of preparing for a national census.

In the statement, ZimStat said they do not conduct unannounced visits to collect personal identification details.

“Zimstat officers on official duty will be easily identifiable by their Government-issued credentials,” reads part of the statement.

The Agency said if anyone posing as their official fails to present valid credentials, members of the public are urged to report to the nearest police station.
