POPULATION Services Zimbabwe (PSZ), in partnership with SAYWHAT and the National Aids Council (NAC), donated free condoms and birth control pills to Hopley residents.
This was done during belated International Youth Day commemorations held in the community last Friday.
Young people got the opportunity to celebrate, and air their grievances, to event organisers.
“We are privileged to attend these celebrations as youths.
“This gives us the opportunity to air our views in relation to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services in the country,” said Chipo Chinokorwa, a Hopley resident.
“We have learnt a lot today, including manufacturing reusable sanitary wear.
“Not all of us can afford to buy sanitary wear every month, due to differences in income generation, and economic hardships.”
Scores of young women received contraceptive pills and condoms.
“Contraceptives will go a long way in preventing the spread of Sexually Transmitted Infections STIs.
“There are many sex workers here in Hopley, therefore, the provision of contraceptives is a welcome initiative,” she said.
