Free graves for councillors back

Chitungwiza Municipality recently reinstated a resolution to allocate two free graves per month to councillors to help them assist less privileged members of society who might need assistance.

The resolution had been rescinded by the Caretaker Commission that temporarily took over the running of the local authority.

However, during a full council meeting last Friday, councillors reinstated the resolution with immediate effect.

Councillors accused the Caretaker Commission, which was appointed by then Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Saviour Kasukuwere, of being misguided when it made the decision.

Zengeza 4 and Ward 14 Councillor Lameck Chibvongodze said it was wrong for the previous Caretaker Commission to assume that they were using the allocated graves for personal enrichment.
