THE Shepherds Foundation Trust will tomorrow host the third edition of the Kupa Kunemufaro Free Health and Wellness Day in Old Mabvuku, bringing much-needed free medical and social services to the community.
The outreach will provide free outpatient services, eye screenings, HIV testing, diabetes and blood pressure checks and emergency support.
In addition, residents will have access to free reading glasses to counteract presbyopia, a natural age-related condition that reduces near focus.
By refracting light, these glasses help restore clarity for everyday tasks such as reading, sewing or using digital devices. Key medical partners include Scotland Medical Centre and Maternity, Medplus 24-hour hospital, Corporate 24 Health Care, Mumba Creations and Diamond Pharmacy. Non-medical partners such as Msasa Park, Morris Rock Resources, City Parking and BTC Law are also backing the initiative, ensuring a stronger outreach drive in Mabvuku.
Speaking for the Shepherds Foundation Trust, Mr Isaac Tiriwokunze highlighted the programme’s wider goal.
“Our outreach aims to mitigate potentially harmful diseases caused by poor eye health, late HIV detection and late diagnosis of diabetes and hypertension. With this initiative, we aim to assist as many communities as possible.”
On behalf of the partners, Mr Runyararo Nyakudya from Msasa Park said, “Giving back to communities is not just charity, it is a responsibility.
The Kupa Kunemufaro initiative reminds us that health and dignity are basic rights, not privileges. By supporting this programme, we are investing in stronger families and healthier communities, and we urge more partners to come forward so that this impact can spread even further.”
Since its launch, the initiative has supported the well-being of creatives and journalists through the help of The National Gallery of Zimbabwe, individuals living with albinism by providing prescription glasses, while also extending food aid, school fees and clothing assistance to vulnerable families.
The 27 September event marks the third edition, with a fourth scheduled before the end of the year.
