ZIMDANCEHALL stars, Freeman and Killer T, will perform using a live band for the first time in the United Kingdom at the ZimLink Up concert set for Birmingham on April 30.
The duo will be accompanied, on the tour, by Nutty O, Ex Q and Takura who will be backed by Shabach The Band.
There has been an outcry by a number of local musicians who believed promoters in foreign countries have been selling them ‘raw deals’ by hiring them without a full band.
The arrangement has been compromising their performances since they were mostly traveling with a DJ and performing using back tracks.
However, it seems their pleas have fallen on a listening ear, if the latest revelations are anything to go by.
Freeman is set to travel with his HKD Band while Killer T tours with his Hot Property Band.
Freeman, whose real name is Emegy Chizanga, will be accompanied on the tour by his manager Watson Kafelapanjila, keyboardist Sydney Sithole, bassist Freedom Chinosengwa, lead guitarist Ngonidzashe Shamudzarira, drummer Leeroy Kapesa and producer Brian Gwite.
The chanter’s manager confirmed the developments to H-Metro.
“Yes, we are going to perform in the UK, Birmingham with a live band in April. We have been demanding such arrangements for a while and we are happy that there is a promoter who has addressed our concerns.
“This will help us leave a good impression whenever we go on stage. When most of the artistes come to perform in Zimbabwe, they come with their full entourage and we want the same to happen to Zimbabwean performers,” said Kafelapanjia, popularly known as Watta.
Freeman will use the concert to celebrate his recent NAMA success, where he scooped the album of the year and male artiste of the year awards.
Killer T’s entourage comprises of Russell Kudakwashe Manyika (bassist), Palmer Chinosengwa (Keyboard), Brendon Farai Ruwizhi (Drummer), Leah Kasinamunda (Backing vocalist) and Alexander Kadzviti (DJ).
The musician’s manager, Kudzai Biston, who is also part of the touring band said they are preparing for the show.
“It’s not our first time to perform with a live band, but it’s first in the UK and this makes the trip important to us.
“We are going to be using the live band as usual back home and that will work as preparations for the April show,” he said.
