LAST year, it was Bill Antonio.
Now, this year, it looks like Elton Chakona is the teenage wonder kid who has exploded from the Dynamos ranks.
And, just like Antonio, he is set to have a dance with European football before his first season with the Glamour Boys first team comes to an end.
Antonio is now in Belgium while Chakona is set to leave for Finland next month.
Dynamos coach, Herbert Maruwa, says Chakona is a special talent who is making a difference at the Glamour Boys.
The Harare giants next league match is against Hwange at Barbourfields on Sunday.
In six appearances, Chakona has scored three goals and provided two assists.
“He is a good youngster and a very good player. He is one for the future and he is set for Finland,” said Maruwa.
“It’s good for our country to have youngsters breaking into Europe, after playing six games only, it’s very encouraging and gives us hope in playing youngsters in our team.
“I am happy there is a lot of progress in the team, especially in the scoring department, as goals are coming.
“We have managed to score more than three goals against ZPC, Sheasham, and Yadah and, so, on a good day, we can score goals.”
He said they have already forgotten about their five-goal romp over Yadah.
“It’s a new game altogether and now we have to quickly get prepared and focus on our new game and forget about the game about Yadah.
“Our support base in Bulawayo is very encouraging, the supporters there have passion and it’s helping us, as the team.”
DeMbare will next week turn their attention to the Chibuku Super Cup whose first round matches will be played during the weekend of August 12-13.
“We hope that all our players won’t be injured and we won’t have problems as we will keep rotating them.
“Last week, we changed the team and this week we are going to do so.
“I think, in terms of depth, we are okay and we will manage to compete in the league and the cup.”
