IN the heart of Chigodora, under the watchful care of Chief Zimunya, a new voice is rising.

32-year-old Moses Bore, whose stage name is Zedman, stands as a gospel artiste who has transformed hardship into harmony and dreams into melodies.

Growing up in a modest Chigodora setting, Zedman’s musical journey began when he was 10, upon realising that he had silky voice singing in church.

From the dusty roads of Chigodora to the fields of Odzi, where he currently resides, his life has been anything, but easy.

Yet, through every twist and turn, one thing remained constant – his love for gospel music.

With no silver spoons or shortcuts, Zedman carved a path fuelled by faith and an unwavering desire to share his gift with the world.

This new month of July marks a monumental step in his musical journey as he is set to officially launch his first two singles, officially introducing his voice to the Zimbabwean gospel scene.

The first single, “Vabereki”, is a moving collaboration with multi-award-winning gospel giant Blessing Shumba.

The track encourages listeners to honour and respect their parents, reminding all generations of the biblical and cultural significance of parental love.

The second track, “Usavimba Naye” features the rising dancehall sensation T Makwikwi.

A fusion of gospel and urban style, the song warns against misplaced trust in people, pointing instead to God as the only true source of strength and protection.

Drawing from personal experience, Zedman tackles themes of betrayal and human frailty while delivering a message both powerful and relatable.

He told Weekender Entertainment that the songs are inspired by personal experiences.

“These songs are my testimonies. I have faced betrayal, poverty, rejection and disappointment. But through it all, God never turned His back on me.

“‘Usavimba Naye’ is a reminder to put your faith in Him only. It has not been an easy journey, but seeing myself collaborating with artistes such as Pastor Blessing Shumba is a dream come true.

“The songs are already in public domain, but I will officially launch them early this month through live radio sessions and live shows so that people will be able to marry the songs and their owner,” said the soft-spoken singer.

Despite financial struggles and the challenges of promoting his music in a saturated industry, Zedman never gave up.

With modest savings, and through the support of Kunashe Studios in Mutare, he was able to record the two singles both of which are already gaining traction on local platforms.

As one of the few gospel artistes to emerge from Chigodora, Zedman carries the hopes of many young rural dreamers on his shoulders.

His music, marked by spiritual depth and emotional honesty.

He said the songs, though emotional, are crafted to uplift souls and speak to the hearts of ordinary Zimbabweans.

He cited Dorcas Moyo, one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated gospel artistes, as his biggest inspiration.

“I admire Dorcas Moyo’s work ethic and her powerful song writing. She makes music that heals. That’s what I want my music to do, to heal, restore hope and glorify God,” he added.

Though the journey has just begun, Zedman has already made notable appearances on National FM, Diamond FM and other local media platforms.

He is also building a reputation as a capable live performer, winning fans not only for his voice, but also for his humble spirit and sincerity.

His said his dream is to release his first full gospel album before the end of the year, a project he hopes will open more doors for him locally and internationally.

However, Zedman is still needs financial support and is appealing to sponsors, well-wishers and gospel music lovers to help him complete his project.
