SHEKINAH Zoliswa Guhwa may be just 13, but this pint-sized powerhouse is blazing trails in Zimbabwe’s pageantry and cultural circles. The HTC Academy Form 1 pupil from Bulawayo has snatched crowns and hearts alike, bagging titles like Teen Miss Africa Zimbabwe, Miss Tennyson Primary School, and Miss Teen Modest, with her most recent triumph as Face of Jet 2025 turning heads across the country.
This rising star is deeply rooted in her identity, proudly waving the Zimbabwean cultural flag. Her moves in the Jikinya Dance Festival saw her represent Bulawayo at national level in Bindura, cementing her status as more than just a pretty face, she’s a proud cultural ambassador.
Through her social media, Shekinah shares traditional dance clips, cultural knowledge, and even throws in oral health awareness with a local twist. Yes, this queen talks teeth too and she’s making it cool!
When she’s not lighting up stages, Shekinah is hands-on with her side hustle of crafting beaded necklaces, bangles, earrings, and key holders. Her growing brand proves that this teen queen has business brains to match her beauty.
Raised by a single mother and grounded in faith, Shekinah admits the ride hasn’t been smooth. She’s battled stage fright, faced financial challenges, and juggled schoolwork with her many titles and she’s come out shining. Her secret, she says, is: “Never give up. You might not get it right the first time, but keep pushing, be confident, and pray about your dream.”
With her sights now set on continental glory, Shekinah is prepping to represent Zimbabwe on a bigger stage. Details of the upcoming Teen Miss Africa finals are still under wraps, but as surely as the sun rises from the East, this girl is going places.
From a shy little girl to a national icon, Shekinah’s journey is living proof that queens aren’t born, they rise!
