TODAY is the 270th day of 2025. There are about 95 days left until the end of the year.
How far have we gone with the resolutions that we made at the beginning of the year? There is still hope that some of the things can be achieved within the remainder of the year.
I am on target on some of my goals. If you are reading this, it means that I have managed to do what I set out at the beginning of the year.
I said that in 2025 I would make sure that I write and share stories and so a big tick in the box for this one. I can already shout yeey, that it has been done.
Now we focus on the remaining 95 days. There are some people who have begun challenges in terms of what they need to do in the last lap of the year.
The idea is to ensure that no one puts you under unnecessary pressure. It cannot be possible to achieve some things in 95 days that could not be done in 270 days. It is important to strike a balance and concentrate on what can be done. As part of doing what can be done, it can just be about starting. Starting is important and when the year comes to an end, you can simply state that you were able to start and there will be a difference between you, who was able to start and those who are planning to start.
In the past 269 days there are certain foods that I have not eaten. Not because I have been asked to stop eating them, but that I made a conscious and deliberate effort to stay away from such foods.
There are some people who would give comments about me not eating some foods at the beginning of the year and they still give their comments. I have become used to words such as nanhasi here? Which is loosely translated to “even up to today/even up to now?” These people are so consistent and even harsh with some comments that include that we are all going to die anyway so why all this fuss? While at times there are people who encourage others, there are others who seem to be very articulate at discouraging others.
One has to understand that whatever health decision you make, there are others who are ready to discourage you from day one. What if one could write a letter to their body?
Here is mine
It has been 270 days of 2025 that we have travelled together. I have tried my best to give you the right food so as to ensure that the energy levels are good and that we have the energy for all the work that we need to do.
At times I have been tempted to eat what is inappropriate and for that I wish to apologise. I have erred, in some cases, I have given you much of what should have been in less quantities. I may have at times fallen for the sweet stuff when I should have gone for the healthy stuff.
I have tried to stay hydrated by ensuring that I take in the right quantities of water faithfully every day. There are days that I have had less and my body has expressed it through feeling drowsy, weak and occasional headaches that it had lacked something. I have not only taken water to drink, but I have made time to wash my body and keep it clean so far in the year.
I have not skipped a bath so far and for the remainder of the year, I intend to continue bathing.
Consistently, I have exercised as best as I can. Despite the strange stares and the comments I have remained on track and the effects of the hard work are there for all to see. I even feel lighter! Even if you have not yet started, start before the year comes to an end.
What is important is to start and not to think about starting. While there will be cheer leaders, also know that the interrogators will be there, to ask you: why? Is it really necessary?
Focus on your health and do what you can to be a healthier you. Remember it is important to take care of the body that carries you. This body carries you for a lifetime. What you put in is what you get.
It is just like a computer, you cannot search for a document that you have not saved within your files! Put in work good for your body and you reap benefits. While it is important to purchase clothes for the body, the clothes can simply be stored away when one falls sick.
So far this year, I have made time for routine visits for important medical check-ups. It may not be always pleasant but it has to be done.
This life does not just consist of the pleasantries, at times the necessities have to be accorded time otherwise it will not work out well. In the past, we were told that one just had to visit a health facility when they were sick, but it should not be so.
Check-ups are very important. How come we tend to install updates in our mobile gadgets, but never make time for bodily updates?
The reminders on our mobile phone tell us when it is time to install new updates. In the last part of the year, I promise that there will be reminders about crucial health tasks that should be attended to. I will not ignore the bathroom scale just because I do not want to be reminded that the weight has not be shed off!
From the heart with love
All the best for your health in the last quarter of the year! Take care of your health.
