ZIMBABWE has crowned a new Miss Universe contestant after a hiatus of 22 years, with Brooke Bruk-Jackson (21) emerging victorious at the national contest.
The Australia-based Bruk-Jackson beat 10 other contestants and will now compete in the 72nd Miss Universe pageant to be held in El Salvador on November 18.
Nokutenda Marumbwa was first runner-up while Amanda Mpofu took the second runner-up spot.
Bruk-Jackson said she was “absolutely honoured and privileged to represent our people and our country at the global stage”.
“This is such an experience and journey ahead that I truly am excited and blessed to be part of.
“I just like everything about Zimbabwe, where we come from and our beloved culture.”
Bruk-Jackson studied at the British Academy of Fashion Design in London, and at the Beauty Therapy Institute in Cape Town, South Africa.
Miss Universe Zimbabwe national director, Tendai Hunda, celebrated all the ladies who took part in the pageant.
“It’s a celebration for Zimbabwe returning on the world’s largest and most popular platform.
“I acquired the licence in April and the return provides a platform to come together with other nations and foster positive relations with Zimbabwe and the rest of the world,” Hunda said.
