Renowned DJ, Joe Da OG is gearing up to celebrate his 46th birthday with a grand celebration at BAC Leisure in Bulawayo tonight, marking a milestone in his illustrious 25-year journey in the entertainment industry.

Born Xolani Ncube on December 11, 1977, in Mpopoma, Joe Da OG is fondly remembered for hosting Afternoon Sessions at nightspots such as Visions, Crush, and Oxygen at a time when Urban Grooves was gaining popularity in the country.

In a recent interview, Joe Da OG, a prominent DJ and Events MC, shared insights into his extensive career, expressing both excitement and gratitude for the thrilling journey.

“I have stayed in the game for almost 25 years, celebrating that next year. It’s been an exciting journey with highs and lows, but mostly fun because I love the game. I think it takes passion to still be doing this (DJing and being an Events MC). When you love it, then it’s never boring,” said Joe Da OG.

Reflecting on the evolution of music and trends over the years, Joe highlighted the dynamic nature of the industry.

“The entertainment industry is a fast-changing game, and music and trends evolve as well. In the late ’90s into the early 2000s, hip-hop and R&B, Reggae, and Kwaito were topping the club and radio playlists, but now things have evolved into more of Amapiano, Afro-beats, and house, especially for Bulawayo,” he shared.

Joe Da OG also observed the changing preferences of club-goers, noting that while nightclubs were once a hit in the early 2000s, people now lean towards a different atmosphere.
