FORMER Zimpraise Choir member, Natalie Manzungu, has gone solo.
She is now into Afro pop music, a complete departure from gospel, which shaped her career over the years.
In an interview with H-Metro, Natalie said she wanted to reach out to people, through Afro pop.
“I wanted to explore my creativity and Afro pop is a genre known for tunes that appeal to people’s emotions, so I became a solo artist in 2019.
“I used to sing in a choir before I decided to go solo and that was amazing.
“One day, I just thought let me try out this solo thing.
“I wanted to and still want to be among the best artists in Zimbabwe and seeing other females dominating this industry has motivated me,” she said.
Natalie is working on a single.
“I am working on a single called Away, to be released on the 30th of October.
“It is really about love and how easy it can be if we just block the world.
“We are in a generation that cares about things that should not even matter, people who have heavy and disturbing opinions about certain relationships,” said Natalie.
“But, really, you can fall in love, be in love and just forget about everything else,” she added.
The Afro pop artist shared her exciting musical journey.
“In my music journey I have met a lot of amazing artists.
“I used to sing in Zimpraise, which was an amazing experience, I learnt stage presence is very important and communicating with the crowd is important.
“From there, I became a backing vocalist for Willis Wattafi, which was another great experience.
“Seeing how all these big artists put in the work, to get to their destination, gave me a push to use this gift I was given,” she told H-Metro.
Natalie released two tracks during the Covid-19 lockdown titled Salute and Zvandiri.
