charged with fraud.
James Tapiwa Jacha (27) was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Shane Kubonera who remanded him out of custody to May 24 this year on US$25 bail.
The complainant is Paroan Trucking, which is in the business of selling fuel represented by its business development manager Mr Barry Manokora.
Prosecutor Ms Svodai Kadivirire alleges that between July and September last year, the company incurred huge losses in volumes of petrol, diesel and paraffin for which supervisors could not explain.
There was a variance of 30 243 litres of petrol, diesel 30 588 litres and 12 433 62 for paraffin.
It is alleged that the figures could not be attributed to pumps overthrow or omission of receipts and coupons during reconciliation.
In September last year, it is alleged, Jacha’s accomplice Lawrence Bere who is still at large was caught having drawn 500 litres of diesel into a client’s drum who had bought 200 litres.
Bere allegedly admitted to stealing the fuel and implicated Mark Kutandika and Jacha as his accomplices in the scam.
On January 11 this year Paroan reported the matter to the police leading to Jacha’s arrest on Saturday.
The value of the fuel stolen is US$73 265.
