Fuel coupons land man in trouble

fuelCourt Reporter
A Harare man appeared in court recently for allegedly stealing fuel coupons totalling 2 000 litres of diesel worth US$2 660 from Ms Jocelyne Chiwenga. Aleck Chimedza (37) of Hatcliffe, who worked as an accountant at Tianzi Tobacco Company owned by Ms Chiwenga appeared before a Mbare magistrate facing accusations of violating a trust agreement requiring him to hand over diesel coupons to a fellow worker for company use.

Prosecutor Lawrence Gangare told the court that on July 19, Chimedza was directed to issue fuel coupons for 2 000 litres of diesel to Truston Mandere, the manager of Dowson Farm, also owned by Ms Chiwenga.

Chimedza allegedly withheld the coupons from Mandere before converting them to his own use, prejudicing the company of US$2 660. Mbare magistrate Ms Shelly Zvenyika granted Chimedza bail pending another hearing today.
