Two emerging groups from Matabeleland South and Harare have secured their places in the Chibuku Road to Fame national finals, scheduled for November 9, after emerging victorious in their provincial competitions.
In Matabeleland South, the Fugees, an up-and-coming sungura band, claimed the top spot, beating contemporary traditional music group Bolamba Culture Birds, who came second and Siyabangena Gangsters, who finished third.

In Harare, Afro-Fusion group, The Outlaws, dazzled the crowd, outshining competition from Afro-Fusion outfit Mazwi and sungura group ZCM, who took second and third places, respectively.
For their efforts, the provincial winners each walked away with US$2 500, while second and third-placed winners received US$1 500 and US$1 000.
This year’s edition of the country’s biggest talent search, is being held under the theme: Bvirarira, Tshay’iNgoma.

The competition that seeks to discover and celebrate the next wave of musical talent, continues this Saturday in Mashonaland Central at Club 007 in Glendale, while Midlands province will host its event at Level 21 Bar in Zvishavane.
Mashonaland East’s competition is set for October 12 at, The Place in Chivhu, with Bulawayo’s event at koNjabulo Elangeni Beerhall on the same day.
Matabeleland North and Manicaland will host their competitions on October 19 at Lwendulu Beerhall in Hwange and Mandel Bar in Mutare.
The provincial finals will conclude on October 26 in Mashonaland West at Hustlers Bar in Murombedzi and in Masvingo at Chihambakwe Beerhall in Triangle.
The national finals will take place in Harare on November 9 at a venue yet to be announced.
At the national finals, the grand prize winner will walk away with US$15 000 and a recording contract. Second and third-place winners will receive US$10 000 and US$7 500, respectively. — @mthabisi_mthire
