A MAN who went on the run after raping a four-year-old girl 10 years ago has been arrested. Nkosinosizi Moyo, 27, of Pumula North suburb allegedly went on the run after the rape case was officially reported in 2012 and hid in Filabusi. He allegedly raped the child in 2005. The court heard that the girl opened up about the rape in 2012 to her teacher after police officers from ZRP Pumula did an awareness campaign about sexual abuse at her school.
Moyo, who was arrested when he recently came to Bulawayo, allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she ever told anyone about the sex attack. The girl was Moyo’s neighbour.
He appeared before Provincial magistrate Abednico Ndebele facing a rape charge. Ndebele remanded him in custody to Monday.
Prosecuting, Steward Madzore told the court that on a date unknown but in December 2005 at around 12noon Moyo went to the girl’s house. “He knocked on the main door and received no response but entered the house and found the complainant who was alone. The accused person then grabbed the complainant by the waist without saying a word and raped her once,” said Madzore.
