Innocent Kurira at Barbourfields Stadium
SCOTTLAND FC produced a commanding performance to comfortably dispatch a lifeless Chicken Inn side in a one-sided Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Barbourfields Stadium.
The visitors dominated proceedings from start to finish, controlling possession and creating chances at will against a Chicken Inn side that never looked ready for the contest.
Scottland FC started brightly, winning three corner kicks inside the opening exchanges as they pinned the hosts deep inside their own half. Chicken Inn struggled to settle while the visitors moved the ball around confidently and dictated the tempo.
Their dominance was rewarded in the 22nd minute when Knowledge Musona gave Scottland FC the lead. Moses Shidolo did well to cut the ball back into the box and the veteran forward calmly slotted home to make it 1-0.
Scottland FC continued to threaten after the opener and could easily have increased their advantage before the break were it not for Chicken Inn goalkeeper Taimon Mvula.
In the 27th minute, Mvula reacted brilliantly to deny Panashe Mutimbanyoka after the striker had been neatly set up by Khama Billiat. The goalkeeper was called into action again six minutes later, producing another fine save to tip Musona’s curling effort over the crossbar for a corner kick.
Chicken Inn failed to improve after halftime and Scottland FC remained firmly in control of the match.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 60th minute when Walter Musona calmly placed the ball home after another flowing attacking move to leave Chicken Inn with a mountain to climb.
Scottland FC nearly added a third goal in the 68th minute when Thwala Kwakhe rattled the crossbar with a powerful strike as the visitors continued to carve open the Chicken Inn defence.
Chicken Inn offered very little going forward and endured a frustrating afternoon in front of their home supporters. Their attack lacked urgency while defensively they looked vulnerable throughout the match.
Scottland FC, meanwhile, enjoyed a field day with their experienced stars pulling the strings and exposing the hosts’ weaknesses with ease.
The victory was fully deserved for Scottland FC, who produced one of their most convincing performances of the season to collect maximum points at Barbourfields Stadium.
