The popular joint, which is now under new management, has organised a series of events throughout the weekend and spilling over into the Heroes holiday.
After Matsito’s gig tonight, the joint will tomorrow play host to three of Zimbabwe’s renowned mbira groups, Mbira DzeNharira, Mawungira Enharira and Dzimbahwe Mbira Crew, in what promises to be a cultural affair.
Coming onto the scene after a long time, the gig will afford mbira lovers a unique opportunity to listen to the addictive and soothing cultural sounds right in the city centre.
All eyes would be on Gahamadze and Nyamasvisva, the two respective leaders of Mbira DzeNharira and Mawungira eNharira.
On Sunday, the Sports Diner will provide laid-back entertainment, where several dance groups will be dancing for the honours at the joint.
Come Monday, it would be back to dendera when Suluman Chimbetu, fresh from his South African tour, enthrall the crowd with his ever-impressive backing outfit Orchestra Dendera Kings.
The dendera icon, who is currently riding high with his latest album, “Non Stop” that carries the hit track, “Kwedu” which features Oliver Mtukudzi, will wow revellers with song and dance on Monday.
Sulu’s profile has been steadily growing over the years and he now commands a huge following, a feat he did not achieve overnight.
