FUZ warn DeMbare over non-payment of winning bonuses

FOOTBALLERS Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general, Thomas Sweswe, says the non-payment of bonuses at Dynamos is a serious breach of contract.

The Glamour Boys have said they will settle the winning bonuses at the end of the year.

Reports suggest many players now want to leave DeMbare when their contracts come to an end.

Trevor Mavhunga, Emmanuel Jalai, Partson Jaure, Evans Katema, Arnold Mawadza, Frank Makarati, Bill Antonio, Ralph Kawondera, King Nadolo, Keith Murera and Albert Eonde are believed to be entering the final stages of their contracts.

“What Dynamos is doing to its players is a serious breach of contract and it should be stopped with immediate effect,” said Sweswe.

“Prior to the introduction of the Sakunda deal, each player had signed a contract, which involved payment of a winning bonus.

“And, after the partnership of Sakunda, the club didn’t ask the players to pen another contract, which gives them the power to validate what they are suggesting. “Technically, the boys are supposed to be getting their winning bonuses.

“The Sakunda package has to be a plus to the players, not the other way round.”

Sweswe told H-Metro that through their organisation, they engaged and advised Dynamos to honour players’ contracts and they were still waiting for the club to respond.

“After hearing about the crisis, we approached Dynamos and they told us negotiations were still ongoing with the players.

“We are still yet to know their agreement and the fact doesn’t change that what is stipulated in the initial contract should be honoured.

“Whatever they are saying doesn’t matter until they hand each player a new contract, which confirms that the two parties (Dynamos and the player) have agreed on the same thing.

“As things stand, each player at Dynamos is there because of the contract he signed when he joined them, and everything on that contract form should be honoured as agreed.”

Tonderai Ndiraya’s men have now gone for three games without a victory, losing to Yadah and Cranborne Bullets, along the way.

DeMbare have also failed to score in their previous three assignments.

A date with the high-flying FC Platinum is on the cards this coming weekend.

Dynamos are now eight points off the pace.

The champions have won their last seven games without conceding.

Norman Mapeza’s troops are enjoying a front row seat with 43 points, five points clear above closest rivals Chicken Inn.
