Gaby’s Restaurant located at the Travel Plaza will tonight launch its Friday night old skool parties for those who love music from down the memory lane.
The eatery which is right in the middle of the plaza is common among the mature revellers and now they have added music to their roster that comes with delicious menus and finger treats to wind up the weekend.
“We are part of the HALA group and we are basically targeting the mature patrons who love to go out and listen to some cool vibes on Fridays. We have partnered with Huggiez Entertainment in that regard since they command a huge following in as far as old skool is concerned,” said Leon Gadziwa who is the manager at the joint.
Huggiez Entertainment, are the leading group of disc jockeys who specialise in old skool music.
Made up of popular DJs — Witness “Chuman” Matema, Kudzi “Mr Kool” Marudza, Ronald “D-Train” Chiwanza and Frankie, Huggiez Entertainment is a favourite of many when it comes to yesteryear classics as they bring the good old days with music dating back to the late 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and hits at the turn of the millennium.
If you love soul and R ‘n’ B it will be all in the mix for you at Gaby’s Restaurant.
Those who love yesteryear music will have enough dosage courtesy of Mr Kool who has been running the show on Radio 3 (Power FM) since the 1980s with the likes of radio guru the late Josh Makawa.
Mr Kool knows his music like the back of his palm.
Once he takes over the turntables you are assured of a fantastic voyage into sound as he throws down some serious party music.
Put on your dancing shoes as Mr Kool goes like: “Party party, keep on, keep on.”
But somehow things will be done differently when Chuman and D-Train take turns to spin the hits.
D-Train is a class of his own and he is a joy to listen to.
His music taste appeals to mature and trendy audience who patronise the joint.
Chuman who is also a well known jazz aficionado will be mixing things up on the decks playing rare grooves and R’n’B.
