Mrs Gadzikwa is also the chairperson of the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange and she becomes the first woman to chair the IoDZ since its inception in 1993.
Speaking to journalists in Harare, Mrs Gadzikwa said that her vision was to increase awareness on corporate governance issues.
“My vision is that we raise awareness on the need to foster a culture of corporate governance within Zimbabwe.
“I see that IoDZ is critical in ensuring that corporate governance becomes central in the way we run our businesses in Zimbabwe.”
Mrs Gadzikwa added that she would ensure the rollout of the national code of corporate governance.
“IoDZ has been driving for the national code which is important for the transformation of the economy of Zimbabwe where investors are confident in Zimbabwe,” she said. There is a gender balance in the newly appointed council elected as it is made up of three men and three women.
Ms Susan Mutangadura, a prominent corporate governance executive, will be the vice chairperson while Mr Tinashe Rwodzi, the managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, will be the finance chairperson.
Mr Evans Kurangwa, who was the 2009 Director of the Year, is the new membership and marketing committee chairperson while Mr Mark Oxley, a consultant in private sector development, business planning and corporate governance, will become corporate governance committee chairperson.
Mrs Rose Nhamo is the training and development committee chairperson.
The IoDZ will be holding the seventh 2013 IODZ Director of the Year awards on May 31 where the best corporate governance practitioners will be awarded.
“This is a prestigious event where we will be awarding the top directors on various boards in the country unlike others that awards salesmen and we appeal for support,” said Mr Oxley.
